Configure Data Plaform (MQTT)

Use centui to change the Data Platform the Board connects to.

It can be a different Platform hosted by Centiloc or a Platform hosted by your means, On-Premise. See Data Platform section.

In any case, the aim of this configuration is to change the MQTT adress which the Board connects to.

  • A Centiloc Board
  • Your TenantID
  • Having an account with maintainer rights at least

1. Follow FirstSteps to Find your Board

Follow First Steps to login, browse the box 2 Boards and find the Serial Number of the Board you want to configure.

  • The Board must be CONNECTED

2. Action: Configure MQTT

Depending on the Board maturity, there are configurations that need to be adapted.

Select carrefully the tab with regard to your Board’s version.

Click on the Choose an action button of your Board, and select Set MQTT Configuration.

2.1. Configuration description

These parameters are typically required to locate your Board to OnPremise Platform.

2.1.1. MQTT_URL

Format is mqtt(s)://<FQDN or IP Address>:<port>.

Use mqtts for SSL secure connection. If you need a trustful certificate, please contact support. Otherwise, check ignore server verification.

With mqtt (without tailing s), the connection is TCP plain.

2.1.2. Username/Password

Even with SSL connection, some MQTT Broker may need it.

2.2. Hosts changes

These Boards implements Centiloc x509 PKI. This means they store a unique certificate and only accepts to connect to a genuine server signed by this same x509 PKI.
These Boards authenticates using username/password combination, and only accepts to connect to a server whose certificate is signed Let’s Encrypt CA.

2.2.1. v5 and later

V5+ Boards have been shipped after April 2023. You can check the version using Core API.

Checkout configuration description to fill the fields correctly.

If you want to connect with SSL (= mqtts), you can either:

  • Check ignore server verification. This makes the deployment easier, but we assume you handle your network carefully
  • Ask Centiloc support to sign a certificate with its trusted CA.
🔜

2.2.2. v4 and before

V4- Boards have been shipped before April 2023. You can check the version using Core API.

Checkout configuration description to fill the fields correctly.

You cannot use SSL (= mqtts), unless you can get a certificate signed with Let’s Encrypt CA.

🔥 Due to a bug in v4.X boards, the transport mode cannot be changed (TCP or TLS). If you want to change the transport mode, you need to use set a bad configuration in order to force recovery mode and reconfigure your board with the correct transport code using a Configuration Token.
Let’s encrypt CA Certificate known by Boards
